Persons of daily Interest

Persons of Daily Interest | Political Portrait Painting

2016 - 2017

The title of this series references surveillance jargon: “Persons of Interest” are individuals under official investigation—suspected, but not yet convicted. In this series of works (oil on canvas), I examine the discrepancy between public persona and historical fact. It concerns men whose influence continues to shape our daily lives—be it through industrial standardization, political strategy, or technological infrastructure—and whose moral ambiguity is often obscured by their cultural status. Here, painting functions as a forensic process: it exposes the fractures in their faces, where the mask of power begins to crack.
